Fall season is here and that means apple pie, pumpkins, & ciders!
September, October, & November are always full of fall festivities and food! Let's get it kicked off with that homemade apple pie!🥧
Ingredients:
- 4 pounds apples (use verity for more flavor)
- Lemon just from 1/2 lemon
- Homemade or store bought crust
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 beaten egg & 1 teaspoon sugar for brushing pie
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Get apples ready, it is personal preference if you like them peeled. I personally like the Apple skin, then take the core out. An apple slicer is the easiest way. Cut apples into thin slices.
- Put apples directly into sauce pan and stir in lemon juice.
Set over medium heat and add brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, vanilla & nutmeg.
-Simmer and stir apples gently for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly until apples soften.
-Get your pie dough rolled out and sized to your pie sheet. Cut according to fit.
-Fill crust with apple filling, then put on top piece of crust. You can squeak the edges together with your fingers or use a fork. Brush crust with egg and sprinkle with sugar.
-Then place it in the center of the oven and bake for 45 minutes.
- Let cool for 20 minutes then ENJOY!!
